National Grid is making significant investments to modernize its natural gas system in Brooklyn. The Metropolitan Natural Gas Reliability Project will improve Brooklyn’s natural gas system by increasing the system’s safety, reliability, and operational flexibility. The project will also improve the gas system’s capacity to support the area’s economic growth. Work will consist of trench excavation within the roadways followed by installation of the new gas main, temporary paving and, finally, restoration of the roadway.
Our Commitment
We plan to construct the new gas main, safely, reliably and efficiently while acting as good neighbors and sharing information widely so that we can continue serving our community for decades to come.
Throughout the project, National Grid and our contractors will make every possible effort to update residents and businesses about upcoming actions, impacts and road closures, and maintain an open and proactive dialogue about the project with our neighbors and our partners in Brooklyn.
